Designing for print isn’t the same as designing for the Internet. Not only do you want a design that is unique that will set your company apart from the millions of others on the web — there’s also a lot of programming involved to get your website to run smoothly and not frustrate your visitors, and also programming that’s needed to help search engines find your website.
Using an experienced web designer will make sure these areas are covered.
The Internet is flooded with “do-it-yourself” website templates where you pay a fee to build your own website using an online tool. I can’t even begin to tell you how many of my customers that have started with the “template route,” quickly becoming frustrated with the difficulty in putting it all together and/or realizing that the results weren’t even close to what they had expected.
If you don’t have basic programming knowledge or can’t find that flexible template that will make your business stand out from 100s of other businesses using the same template — don’t be afraid to consult with a web designer and get a quote for a unique, well functioning website where you will be able to have a say about every step of the way (if you want to).
Highmark Designs, a locally owned and operated graphic design company in South Lake Tahoe, California, have designed and launched over 90 websites in recent years. Each website has it’s own unique design based on each company’s specific goals for their website.
We also produce design for printed materials (stationery, ads, flyers, postcards, brochures etc.) that will work with the new web design — or the other way around — make sure a web design picks up the look and feel from an existing branding strategy.
